Singer Chris Hardman is now preparing to take on the world with a solo single.

BBC Radio Suffolk's Drivetime presenter Stephen Foster spoke to 15 year old Chris the day after the broadcast of the final show in the series. SF: Tell us about the new single...  LISTEN: Chris Hardman interview Feb 2006 > Audio and Video links on this page require Realplayer Rock School: The Swearing > CH: It's called Checking It Out and it is a really catchy song that fits with my voice.  It's similar to the one we did on stage - Kicking Off.  It's kind of indie-pop-punk.  I've been working in London with the producers who you saw in the programme.   I hope it's a hit and that some people like it.  We're approaching different record companies so we'll see.  Hopefully, you'll be able to hear something by the end of March 2006. SF:  Now that you've been watching Rock School, what did you make of the programme? CH:  A lot of people thought it was quite controversial because of the way it portrayed Lowestoft, but I think people should focus on what we achieved by the end of the series.  I think it was edited well and everyone would be happy with the way they were portrayed. SF:  A lot of swearing going on though... CH:  I think a lot of people would be kidding themselves if they said they never swear.  If you put a group of 15 year olds in a high-pressure situation it's going to happen.  I personally didn't swear, but it happens in classrooms and people have got to realise it goes on. I don't think it's put Kirkley in a bad light because it's shown what we've achieved - even those who weren't in the band at the end. SF:  And you all appeared to have a lot more respect for Gene Simmons than you did at the beginning.. CH: At the start we knew he was in Kiss but we didn't really know much about him.  Walking into his Kiss room at his LA mansion just brought home how much he's achieved and he is an amazing man.  The things he's done for us - he didn't have to do that.  He's a rock star, not a teacher and he's opened up doors for 12 children and given us a chance to do other things. SF: And we've been getting fanmail from young ladies for you [see our earlier Rock School feature] ... CH:  It's crazy and it's happening on other forums as well.  I've gone from being a normal kid in school to being on TV and having all these people saying they want to get to know you. SF:  What's in like being back at school now? CH:  It's different after the final programme.  It's the same with my existing friends but when I walk into the dining hall I can see people looking at me and whispering to each other, but I can't hear what they're.
